THE WORK

01The challenge:

A fashion store that took five seconds to show the clothes

StyleHub sells its own women's clothing line, and the old storefront was an aging template stacked with plugins. On a phone, product pages took close to five seconds to show the first image, because every photo shipped at full studio resolution. Filters reloaded the whole page, and checkout ran across four screens.

Most of the traffic came from Instagram ads, so the brand was paying for mobile visits that left before a single product appeared. The shoppers who stayed tended to abandon their carts at the shipping step, where the delivery cost showed up for the first time.

02What we built:

Pre-rendered pages, right-sized photos and a one-page checkout

The new store is a Next.js and React build. Category and product pages are generated ahead of time and refreshed when stock changes, so a shopper gets finished HTML from the edge. Every photo goes through Cloudinary, which crops, compresses and serves it in the size and format the device asks for.

Catalog, sizes and stock live in MongoDB, and filters update the grid without a page reload. Checkout is a single page on Stripe, with delivery costs shown on the product page and Apple Pay and Google Pay offered first on mobile.

03What changed:

Conversion up 150%, on pages that load in under a second

Conversion rate rose 150% against the same months a year earlier, and largest contentful paint on mobile dropped from 4.8 seconds to 0.8. Checkout abandonment fell by 44%, most of it at the shipping step that used to hide the cost.

StyleHub's two-person e-commerce team now publishes drops, edits collections and swaps campaign imagery on their own. We handed over the repository, the Cloudinary presets and a written runbook, and every seasonal launch since has gone out on their schedule.
