THE WORK
01The challenge:
Monthly reports that found problems four weeks late
RankBoost Agency managed search for 46 small-business sites. Each month, account managers exported Search Console data to spreadsheets, ran PageSpeed tests one URL at a time, and checked competitor rankings in a separate tool. A single client report took about three hours, and the agency produced 46 of them.
Because the numbers were assembled once a month, problems surfaced late. A plugin update that slowed a client's product pages, or a template change that dropped pages from the index, could run for weeks before anyone saw it. Two clients left that year after spotting a drop in their own analytics before the agency mentioned it.
02What we built:
Every client's search data, refreshed nightly in one dashboard
A Node.js service runs each night for every client. It pulls queries, pages and clicks from the Search Console API, runs PageSpeed Insights against each site's key templates, and fetches competitor positions for tracked keywords from a rank-tracking API. Results land in MongoDB as daily snapshots, so any metric can be compared across any date range.
The Next.js dashboard groups pages the way the agency plans work: service pages, location pages and blog. Chart.js charts show clicks and Core Web Vitals for each group, plus rankings against three competitors the client names. A page that loses a third of its clicks week over week, or a template whose Largest Contentful Paint passes 2.5 seconds, opens a flagged task.
03What changed:
Problems surface the next morning, while they are still small
Across the client roster, organic traffic grew 200% in the twelve months after launch, as account managers spent their hours fixing pages instead of assembling reports. A monthly report now takes about fifteen minutes to review and send, down from three hours. Most flagged drops are fixed within a day of the alert.
RankBoost owns the repository, the MongoDB cluster and the Google Cloud project that holds the API credentials. We handed over after the third release with a runbook for adding a client and renewing Google access, and their in-house developer has added a dozen sites since without outside help.
